Team Robert Or Team Edward?

Many Girls out there have fled frantically to go and see the newest instalment of the Twilight saga, New Moon, which was released on the 20th November 2009. Was it for the film, or just to see everybody favourite teenage heart-throb, Edward Cullen. Just the name can bring some fans to feel weak at the knees. And the popularity of Robert Pattinson has been boosted since the brooding Vampire was brought to our screens.

He has stolen the hearts of many fans, myself included, but it makes me question, would he be less attractive if he didn’t play one of the most loved Male characters in teenage fiction?

I want to say that I would love him if he didn’t play Edward Cullen, but I know this to be a lie that I would just be telling myself. Unfortunately for poor Robert, his main appeal is Edward. Women and Girls love to love a handsome, loving, slightly emotionally torn, brooding vampire because it is what we cannot have ourselves.

So to be perfectly honest, the Robert Pattinson fans, dubbed ‘Robsessed’ fans, are all mostly lying to themselves because they don’t want love the actor, they love the idea of Edward. So unless Robert is able to distinguish himself in a role that has more depth and appeal, he will always be known as Edward Cullen, everyone’s favourite ‘Vegetarian’, sparkly, golden eyed vampire.

  1. I think many 'Robsessed' fangirls forget that Robert Pattinson's big break was Cedric Diggory in HP and The Goblet of Fire, and he got killed off almost immediately.

You've got the argument of loving the character spot on. :)
