I went out tonight to see the new St Trinians movie… and I soon wished that I hadn’t. Compared to the last film, which to be perfectly honest was great, it was appalling. I went in with an open mind which was slightly disappointed since I had found out that the infamous Ladies man, Russell Brand would not be returning as ‘Flash Harry’, and came out wishing that I had just stayed at home and watched paint dry.
There was no way near as much fun as the first one but it did include some new and fresh faces including Ashes to Ashes actress, Montserrat Lombard, as Zoe the ‘Goth’, replacing Paloma Faith in her role as Andrea as the top ‘Emo’. The role of Pomfrey played by Doctor Who favorite, David Tennant made me want to cry because the writers of the film gave him a role which annoyed me so much that I was began to slightly hate him. So really in the space of about 120 minutes, I went from loving one of my favorite actors to wanting to not see his face again in case it reminded me of the film.
As for the storyline, it includes, a treasure hunt, a secret organization, grave robbing, pirates, a woman hating ‘bad guy’ and a truly weird conspiracy theory. The story includes a confusing treasure hunt which leads from a graveyard to Eton school to the Globe theatre in London and includes the possession of Annabel Fritton by her ancestor and then we find that an ancestor of the Fritton family from the late 1500’s is actually a woman who was also the great William Shakespeare. All I can say is that if they decide to revisit these films again, they should have some new writers brought in.
This confused my greatly, Shakespeare was a woman? Unlikely but you never know. I guess we will never know…
